So, May 25th is now but a distant memory… The big question is what the authorities do next. Well, early signs are that they are getting busy. An interesting recent piece in the Guardian talks about significant increases in data related complaints in the UK, France and Austria. It’s also slightly concerning that amongst the firms to find themselves in the glare of bad GDPR related publicity since May has been a Recruitment Software supplier (an Australian vendor, but one with a host of clients in Europe, many of whom have been named in the press). If your firm is yet to take steps towards compliancy then we’d encourage you to get on it sooner rather than later!
In Austria, more than 100 complaints have been filed in the last month, along with 59 breach notifications – the same number that would typically be received in eight months.
