Apologies for those who are of the view that all I ever talk about is GDPR - the new data protection rules that are going to have a dramatic impact on Executive Search in Europe and beyond. It does feel that way - this week I've had five meetings with clients, colleagues and lawyers on this topic, and we've announced a webinar for a wider audience - details here. Rest assured, in 18 months time I'll go back to talking about the misery associated with being a Leyton Orient season ticket holder.
That said.... as articles on this topic go, this is an interesting one. It relates to HR and recruiting more than search - it is particularly focused on automation - but it is interesting as it gives another perspective as to the impact of these rules.
Alex James and I are hosting a webinar specifically on the rules as they related to executive search later in the month. I hope you'll join us!
“The sooner organisations start thinking about how their employees are collecting data the better it will be for them when the regulations come in,” Taylor said. “Typically, HR departments have a heightened sense of awareness on how companies use data – but with areas like recruitment, if people don’t typically think of it as a ‘data’ process and consider how the process might have to change, the consequences could be quite severe.”
